The official Kickstarter campaign for Fathom has now gone live at until March 29th and is targeting a funding goal of £120,000. The initial goal is for development for Windows 8 via XBox LIVE, and stretch goals include porting to other mediums, including PS3 and IOS.

“At Ironsun, we are massive fans of Steampunk and feel that this sub-genre has been completely underused in today’s world of interactive entertainment” said Managing Director, Paul Kelly of Ironsun Studios, “Fathom mixes the myth of the lost city of Atlantis, the worlds of underwater exploration and combat with puzzle solving as players journey deep in the waters of the Caribbean sea, visiting ancient ruins and beautiful caverns in an awe-inspiring beautiful 2.5D world”.

In Fathom you play as Nathaniel Lockhart, a shipwrecked Victorian adventurer of the 1870’s who is lost at sea in the Caribbean. Lockhart has no memories of the events surrounding the shipwreck, but has visions of a mysterious design for an underwater craft called the Bathysphere and recurring nightmares of a violent attack on the vessel that led to the shipwreck.

Obsessed with the idea that this is the only way to find answers to the mystery, Lockhart compiles his resources to build the machine and mounts an expedition back to the murky waters that haunt his every thought. Lockhart must build and master the mysterious underwater craft and ultimately take control of Atlantis, repairing the broken machines of the Atlanteans and solve their ancient puzzles to uncover the mystery.

Backers of the Fathom Kickstarter campaign will be rewarded with goods ranging from digital gifts, such as an exclusive in-game relic, to an ancient head stone rendered with the backers’ face, to a gameplay demo and awesome limited edition T-shirts and hoodies designed by the Fathom artists for a truly unique steam punk look.

DONATE PLEASE

If you didn't know, well, he is, and he's reminding you in his latest article on the NxtGenUG site here !

In that time he's been involved in organising hundreds of meetings for the benefit of developers around the UK and in Europe too.

Due to his outstanding efforts (genuinely!) in the Community he feels he is in need of a holiday and he would love your support in getting one. Microsoft have kindly arranged for a Saga Holiday special for the old chap to Las Vegas if only he can get enough votes for his session which he has submitted to MIX11.

Go on, support a fellow developer and community stalwart, and vote for Rich here , It's all about how he has helped with a game for the Windows Phone 7 Market Place using Silverlight.

He'll thank you for it, probably bring some swag back for us all and you'll feel good about helping a veteran of the UK Community show the US how to do a great presentation!

Go for it Rich!
