NxtGenUG FEST07 was on 23rd May 2007!
| NxtGenUG on the 23rd May 2007 ran a unique one day event featuring TOP european speaker Rafal Lukawiecki along with other great speakers as we looked at Vista, "Orcas", Dynamic Languages and the home of the future ... The one day event was held in Building 3, Microsoft Campus, Reading UK and will be a unique event. We picked a theme we believed was in tune with what NxtGenUG is all about: "Into The Future ..."
After a keynote from Richard Costall and Dave McMahon, we started in the morning with Rafal, looking at today's most secure operating system yet, Microsoft Vista, followed by a session from Microsoft's Mike Taulty and Daniel Moth on "Orcas" technology. We joined Rafal again after lunch and took a look at where we have been as far a development paradigms are concerned and looked forward to where we might be heading. We then took a look at one of those future's after this with Oliver Sturm of DevExpress who showed us how Dynamic Languages are shaping up within the .NET world. We than fast forwarded a few years into some concepts of how the home may look in years to come, with a session from Lorna Brown of Microsoft Research.
To end the day on a high, we had one of the popular NxtGenUG "gameshows" featuring a take on Family Fortunes called "Swagily Fortunes", where the aim was to have a laugh, as we wound down, maybe learnt something, but actually not, and to gave out some serious "swag" to the attendees.
This event was FREE to all NxtGenUG members either as individuals or as part of corporate memberships. Non-members were most welcome and attended too.
NxtGenUG is a non-profit organisation, all monies paid went towards event costs and to help pay for the regular meetings of NxtGenUG which are held in Birmingham, Coventry and Oxford.. | Who spoke?
